Clos du Bois
Clos du Bois translates in French to 'vineyard of the woods,' a clever play on words by founder Frank Woods. A big contributor to the California wine scene, Frank released his first vintage of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 1974. With a goal of raising awareness of California wine, Frank worked closely within the Sonoma and Napa communities to push the industry forward. Following a trip to France in the late 1970s, Frank liked the elegant taste of the wines he tried while learning from winemakers in Burgundy. He returned home inspired to marry the elegant French style of winemaking with his vibrant California fruit. Decades later, we continue to embrace his winemaking philosophy, earning a devoted following among those who love refined, approachable wines.
