HEALDSBURG, Calif., (March 4, 2025) — Ravenswood wines are back. Taking inspiration from its iconic roots, the new era of Ravenswood includes four terroir-driven Zinfandel expressions that each have a connection to the brand’s rich history and heritage. The portfolio, returning to the market starting this month, explores the breadth and potential of Zinfandel with wines that are emblematic of their place while offering a distinctive point of view.

Established in 1976, Ravenswood and its founder, winemaker Joel Peterson, were groundbreaking leaders in California Zinfandel, bringing the brand and variety to incredible prominence and success. Ravenswood is now under the thoughtful stewardship of GALLO, which has dedicated more than two years to redefining and refocusing the brand, working in collaboration with Peterson.

“The GALLO team has embraced the legacy of Ravenswood, focusing on single-vineyard Zinfandel expressions and the strengths of each site,” says Peterson. “Ravenswood has always been made with a formidable community of growers and supporters. This continues that tradition. I am confident in the investment and enthusiasm the Gallo family has shown for Ravenswood. I look forward to continuing our friendship.”

Helming the modern retelling of the Ravenswood story is Winemaker Michael Eddy-Cort, who previously spent more than 15 years crafting acclaimed wines at Napa Valley pioneer Louis M. Martini. Eddy-Cort’s vision for Ravenswood’s future was shaped in part by Peterson’s mentorship, which allowed him to gain a personal understanding of the personality and philosophy behind the wines.

“We are taking some of that same spirit that Joel infused into Ravenswood and putting it into what we’re doing today,” says Eddy-Cort. “Our ultimate objective is to create wines that achieve distinction; wines that are arresting with a clear point of view. Our goal is that Ravenswood wines are in service to the site, but don’t be surprised if we are a little bit unexpected in how we go about things.”

At a time when consumers are looking beyond classic varieties for authenticity, new expressions and more versatility, Ravenswood arrives in modern, elevated packaging while offering exceptional quality, individual styles and a rich history.

Revealing the stunning range of California’s definitive variety through site-driven Zinfandel, the Ravenswood portfolio includes a Dry Creek Valley blend and three small-lot, single-vineyard expressions. The reintroduced portfolio begins with vintage 2023.

  • Dry Creek Valley AVA Zinfandel ($26.99 SRP): An approachable and fruit-forward expression crafted from a blend of sites from this acclaimed Zinfandel region, a longtime favorite source for Ravenswood.
  • MacMurray Vineyard Zinfandel ($49.99 SRP): An elegant and aromatic expression that returns Ravenswood to the Russian River Valley, where Peterson made his first Zinfandel as an apprentice winemaker.
  • Teldeschi Vineyard Zinfandel ($49.99 SRP): Crafted from one of Ravenswood’s first single-vineyard sites. A dry-farmed, old-vine Zinfandel vineyard along the eastern benchlands of the valley, this expression offers a rich and velvety expression with just a touch of extravagance.
  • Monte Rosso Vineyard Zinfandel ($69.99 SRP): One of California’s most legendary vineyard sites, this wine is crafted from some of the same blocks Peterson used for his historic Monte Rosso Zins. This expression showcases Monte Rosso’s hallmark maturity, balance and refinement.

“Our family has a long and proud history of growing and crafting Zinfandel in Sonoma County. We are deeply invested in its future success,” says Matt Gallo, Vice President of Winegrowing at GALLO. “Ravenswood not only helped put Zinfandel on the map, but it did so with a unique viewpoint that created an incredible level of affinity and affection for the brand. We are excited to continue that legacy with a portfolio that showcases the site-driven nuances of this exceptional variety.”

With a limited production, Ravenswood will be available at fine wine retailers and select restaurants in California, Texas and New Jersey. The Dry Creek Valley AVA releases this month, while the single-vineyard wines follow in May. Visit www.RavenswoodWinery.com for more information.
